چکیده

A numerical model is presented for simulating shallow-water flows over dry and irregular bottom. The model is based on a projection method, which consists of combining the momentum and continuity equations in order to establish a Poisson-type equation for the water surface level. The computed domain is discretised by finite volumes on an unstructured grid. A 2nd-order upwind scheme coupled with a Least Square technique is used for handling advection terms. The present model ensures the exact Cproperty that has been theoretically and numerically demonstrated in this paper. Wetting and drying treatment technique used in the model has been also validated by several benchmark tests. The accuracy, stability and reliability of the present model are verified by comparing numerical results with observed data for the Malpasset dam-break event. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

An Unstructured Finite-volume Technique for Shallow-water Flows with Wetting and Drying Fronts

An unstructured finite volume numerical model is presented here for simulating shallow-water flows with wetting and drying fronts. The model is based on the Green’s theorem in combination with Chorin’s projection method. A 2-order upwind scheme coupled with a Least Square technique is used to handle convection terms. An Wetting and drying treatment is used in the present model to ensures the to...

On a well-balanced high-order finite volume scheme for shallow water equations with topography and dry areas

Shallow water equations are widely used in ocean and hydraulic engineering to model flows in rivers, reservoirs or coastal areas, among others applications. In the form considered in this paper, they constitute a hyperbolic system of conservation laws with a source term due to the bottom topography. In recent years, there has been increasing interest concerning the design of high-order numerica...

Well-balanced bicharacteristic-based scheme for multilayer shallow water flows including wet/dry fronts

The aim of this paper is to present a new well-balanced finite volume scheme for two-dimensional multilayer shallow water flows including wet/dry fronts. The ideas, presented here for the two-layer model, can be generalized to a multilayer case in a straightforward way. The method developed here is constructed in the framework of the Finite Volume Evolution Galerkin (FVEG) schemes. The FVEG met...
